Dmitry Feldman's article is devoted to the history of two investigative cases accusing the spiritual leader of the Lithuanian-Belarusian Hasidim, Rabbi Shneur Zalman of political unreliability (1798–1801), which ultimately contributed to the strengthening of the position of Hasidism in the western provinces of the Russian Empire. The publication by Dmitry Rublev presents a transcript of a report by one of the leaders of the anarchist movement in the Western region of the Russian Empire, Ilya Geitsman, read on November 27, 1931 in Moscow. Geizman combines memories of famous anarchists with an analysis of their psychology and worldview. Alexander Frenkel, a famous researcher of the life and work of the classic of Jewish literature Sholom Aleichem, publishes the writer’s correspondence with the Bolshevik Sarah Ravich, who translated his novel “The Bloody Joke” into Russian. The publication is preceded by a meaningful introductory article.
