At the same time, the book examines how this union of secular and spiritual power affected the position of the people, as well as popular movements against the church. Finally, it also shows the position of the educated strata of Russian society, the difficult relations of M.V. Lomonosov, A.S. Pushkin and other prominent representatives of the Russian intelligentsia with the church authorities.
