About the book: 2013 / The novel "The Third Truth" was written 40 years ago, in the USSR, but due to a number of circumstances it was published recently, and not in the CIS, but in USA. There he found his readership among Russian-speaking Americans. In the territory of the former USSR, the circle of people familiar with the novel is, for obvious reasons, limited. However, their reaction to the novel, their reviews give reason to believe that the novel would be in demand here. In this regard, the author decided to “return the novel to its historical homeland” and give the general reader the opportunity to get acquainted with it. So, before you are two books of the novel “The Third Truth”. Fictional characters are placed in a historical mise-en-scène described in detail: war, revolution. But the story told, of course, is primarily about love. Events meet us in Razdolnoye - a family estate of a noble and wealthy family that adheres to traditional principles. It is not surprising that all hope for the future rests on the sons, and the daughter, a playful child with the wonderful name Alexandrine, turns out to be of no use to either her Russian colonel father or her French mother, who is secretly jealous of her youth and charm. The brothers treat the baby with undisguised contempt, and the state of the cold war between the offspring of the Kurnakov family develops into active hostilities. Fights and scandals shake the house. The bleak life of Lulu (that is her childhood nickname) begins to change when one day she literally runs into a mysterious stranger on the stairs, who introduces himself in an improvised theatrical dialogue as “The Viscount.” Lulu is captivated by the atmosphere of mystery and the spirit of adventure surrounding this man, and he... what did he see in this child that he did not immediately, reluctantly, in fits and starts, but still took up the task of raising the abandoned Alexandra? Year fourteen, year fifteen... Through the prism of the perception of the maturing heroine, the events of that turbulent time pass before us: the beginning of the war, the failures of the Russian army, unrest among the people, the birth of the revolution. Sasha would like to see all this as if from behind the “Viscount”, whose image and words, regardless of his physical presence on the estate, overshadow all other events. Meetings that are now infrequent become holidays, the brightest and most “real” in a changing world. The revolution comes to the Kurnakov estate, drawing Alexandra into its vortex and aggravating her position as an outcast in the family. She has to leave her father's house, which, however, was never her own. And again, her only patron and companion on her life’s journey turns out to be the “Viscount”. Thus begins their great journey to St. Petersburg, a city transformed by the love of the heroes and the writer into a full-fledged character in The Third Truth. All attributes of time are written out in detail. Prices, weather, historical figures - authentic. The space is also authentic: cities and roads, every kilometer of which is described vividly, authentically and fascinatingly... Together with Sasha you will gradually get to know the person whose principles, understanding of the world, beliefs form the “Third Truth”, the truth of the “Viscount”, the truth of the Field Shakhovsky. But will he be able to maintain his truth in a rapidly changing, breaking apart world?
