About the book: 2005 / In the next volume of church-historical works by the outstanding Russian Church historian, professor of the Moscow Theological Academy, emeritus professor of Moscow University Alexey Petrovich Lebedev (1845–1908) under the general title “The History of Banned Books in the West. Italian clergy in one of the medieval eras” included studies and articles on the history of the Church of the Middle Ages and Modern times. The main topics of the collection: the history of prohibited books from ancient times to the end of the 19th century, the famous papal “Ecumenical” Council of 1870, which adopted the dogma of the infallibility of the Pope, the morals of the Italian and Greek clergy in the Middle Ages and in modern times, the state of German theological science using the example of the Tübingen School and much more. As always, the works of A.P. Lebedev are written simply and convincingly, in good Russian and with the sense of humor characteristic of the famous scientist.
