  • MediaDB / «What is the truth? Explainer on modern philosophy from Foucault and Deleuze to Zizek and Haraway" Maximilian of Naples: download fb2, read online

About the book: 2024 / A brief overview of current thought, ideas and people who have influenced philosophy over the last hundred years. It is a great misconception that real philosophy ended after Kant and since then there has been nothing interesting left in it. The author of this book, Maximilian of Naples, debunks this myth and shows that modern philosophical thought can be no less significant than classical thought, and no less exciting than any of the humanities. What is postmodernity? How is posthumanism different from transhumanism? And how did modern philosophers make media “dark”? The field of modern philosophy has spread so widely that no cultural phenomenon can now escape it, from blockbusters and superheroes to contemporary art exhibitions. Who is this book for? For those who want to understand the main philosophical concepts of our time. For those who are interested in how modern philosophers see the world. From the author As soon as I began to explore modern philosophy, I encountered two problems. Firstly, it always seemed to me that philosophy was the science of the past, so it ended at most somewhere in the middle of the 20th century. It turned out that this is not entirely true. Then I admitted that modern philosophers publish books not only on the history of their science. And then “secondly” emerged: it turned out that I had nothing to read on modern philosophy. The threshold for entering literature turned out to be too high for someone who has not been involved in philosophy for many years: it is difficult to understand terms, contexts, grasp problems, recognize concepts and determine where to start and which texts to study. There are many texts that briefly retell the history of philosophy or popularly expounding its fundamental doctrines. However, the authors of such literature almost never get to the thinkers who are alive today or at least who lived and worked in the second half of the last century. “What is the truth?” closes the gaps and directs us to modernity - unexpected, exciting and dangerous. Philosophy does not end when old and seemingly forgotten problems are resolved. Philosophy is constantly looking for opportunities and new ways to continue understanding the world, man, society, science, politics, and nature. The purpose of this book is not to create a giant canvas, placing on it everything that is happening in modern philosophy, but to show close-up elements without which it is simply impossible to imagine it. Instead of a huge wall map of the world - an impressive thickness atlas of contour maps.
