About the book: 2000 / Vaslav Nijinsky (1889–1950) is an outstanding Russian dancer and choreographer who made a significant contribution to the art of ballet of our century. For just over ten years he delighted thousands of fans with his brilliant talent - first on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater, then as part of Sergei Diaghilev’s troupe. But this time was enough for his name to be accompanied by the indispensable epithets “great, brilliant, unique,” so that the images he created in the ballets of Stravinsky, Debussy, and Adam were included in the classics of world choreography, so that dozens of the best dancers in the world sought to imitate him. His fame was enormous, crowded halls applauded him on all continents... But Nijinsky’s fate became confirmation of the bitter truth: genius and madness go hand in hand. Severe mental illness forced the great dancer to leave the stage forever. It was then that he began to write his notebooks, which he himself titled “Life” and “Death”, united under the common title “Feeling” - chaotic, chaotic notes that had little to do with his past, brilliant life. They contain thoughts about the world and man, about God and the soul, about the vain and the eternal, about art - not as a craft, but as a way of understanding the world... Nijinsky's manuscript is published for the first time in Russian in full and in accordance with the author's original.
