About the book: 1997 / In 1730, Russia was agitated by turbulent events. The young Emperor Peter II died, and the niece of Peter I, the Duchess of Courland Anna Ioannovna, took the throne. By inviting her to reign, the Supreme Privy Council tried to limit the power of the new empress. But the political experiment of the leaders failed, and the outcome was fatal for its initiators. According to the Russian historian V. O. Klyuchevsky, “the political drama of Prince Golitsyn, poorly rehearsed and even worse acted out, quickly reached the epilogue.” The new historical novel by Stanislav Desyatskov takes the reader to the 30-40s of the 18th century, when the Russian throne Anna Ioannovna entered. The basis of the plot is the conflict between the new empress and members of the Supreme Privy Council, who imposed restrictive conditions on her.
