About the book: 2017 / Boris Lvovich Vasiliev is a classic of Soviet literature, based on whose works the films “Officers”, “The Dawns Here Are Quiet”, “Tomorrow there was war” and many others. During the Great Patriotic War, Boris Vasiliev went to the front as a volunteer, then graduated from machine gun school and fought as part of the 3rd Guards Airborne Division. The main place in his memoirs is the story of the battles in the German encirclement, where Boris Vasiliev found himself in the summer of 1941. For almost three months he went out to his people, having traveled a long way from Smolensk to Moscow. Everything was here: terrible pictures of war, the death of comrades, hunger, the constant threat of death or captivity. It was not for nothing that later, when B. Vasiliev was already serving in the landing force, he was treated with special treatment as a “surrounded person of 1941.” In addition to military events, the book talks about the Stalin era, the impact of the war on Soviet society and the life of front-line soldiers in the post-war period.
