MediaDB / «Tusculan Conversations" by Mark Cicero: download fb2, read online
About the book: 1975 / "Tusculan Conversations" were written by Cicero in the fall of 45 BC. e. This was the year of the last creative upsurge that Cicero experienced at the end of his life (he was killed two years later as an enemy of Mark Antony, who openly opposed his desire to become a princeps. Cicero in the Senate made several revealing speeches, which he called "philippics", modeled on the speeches Demosthenes against Philip of Macedon). "Tusculan Conversations" differs significantly from other works of Cicero both in content and in form. They consist of five books representing lecture notes as if given before a large audience. As if answering questions from listeners, Cicero sets out his point of view on a number of important issues that worried not only him, but also many educated people of that time.
