Therefore, the book by the outstanding Russian historian, archaeologist and collector Ivan Yegorovich Zabelin (1820-1908) “The Home Life of Russian Tsars” is, without exaggeration, unique. The internal routine, way of life of the Moscow Palace, the relationships of its inhabitants were traced by I.E. Zabelin in all picturesque details, with a detailed description of numerous rituals and ceremonies, as well as an explanation of their highest meaning and deep significance. I.E. Zabelin’s book is based on genuine historical material, which the scientist had the opportunity to become acquainted with while working for many years in the archives of the Armory Chamber of the Moscow Kremlin. The characters of this book, as well as the interiors, household items, and architectural monuments that surrounded them, including those that have not survived to this day, are presented in numerous illustrations accompanying this publication.
