About the book: 1974 / The book, in the form of popular science and scientific and artistic essays, describes the diverse and complex social life of ants inhabiting the deserts of south-east Kazakhstan, tells about the nature of the deserts of this picturesque and extremely diverse region in its landscapes, about the work environment of a scientist, naturalist and entomologist. The book was written on the basis of the author’s many years of study of ants exclusively on original materials that are new to science. Lively and figurative language, a description of the process of revealing various mysteries of ants’ behavior, numerous features of their life that have not yet been explained make the book interesting and accessible to the widest circle readers, primarily nature lovers, entomologists, students of higher educational institutions, teachers and older secondary school students. Recently, the author published a book about ants, inhabitants of the forest, entitled “Little Workers of the Forest”. It received favorable responses from readers and received first prize at the All-Union Society “Knowledge” competition. “Little Workers of the Desert” is a book about ants from other landscapes. It is illustrated with photographs by the author.
