About the book: 2009 / The dictionary explains the origin of the names of mountains, ridges, lakes, rivers and streams, cities, towns and villages of the Amur Region. The dictionary is preceded by an article “The history of the formation of toponymy in the Amur region,” telling in a popular form what toponymy is. For each name, information about the geographical location of the object and historical and etymological information are provided. In a number of cases, the history of the name is illustrated by a number of successively changing forms - from the first mention to the present day.
