About the book: 2006 / ÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷ ÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷The second volume of “Political Biography of Stalin” is published two years after the publication of the first volume and is dedicated to the political and state activities of Stalin in 1924–1939. This short period by the standards of history became an entire era in the life of our country and in the life of Stalin himself. An era woven from contradictory events compressed into a single whole. Based on a wide range of sources and materials, the author examines in detail the main vicissitudes of Stalin’s struggle against his political opponents - Trotsky, Zinoviev, Kamenev, Bukharin, etc. - and reveals the origins and reasons why Stalin was the winner in this tough struggle. The focus is on such fundamental events of those years as industrialization and collectivization, which went down in the history of our country as a great, but too abrupt turning point in its destinies. Much attention is paid to the topic of Stalin’s repressions of the 30s, which left an indelible mark on the lives of entire generations. The author gives his explanation of these repressions, highlights the most significant trials of that time, and answers the still burning question: why did the defendants confess. The volume covers the beginning and ending of the Yezhovshchina as one of the darkest pages of Soviet history. Due attention is also paid to the question of why, at the end of the 30s, Stalin put an end to large-scale repressions and set a course for consolidation in society. Although there has long been an aphorism that only great people have great vices, with its help it is impossible to explain, much less whitewash before history and the future, the repressions of the 30s. The arguments of those who find something similar in the history of other countries, believing that historical analogies can also be historical indulgences, are also unconvincing. What happened cannot be erased from the annals of history. She records everything - both good and bad. It is important, however, that one does not obscure the other, since with this approach the truth is lost and the panorama of historical events appears in a distorted light. ÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷
